M-DCPS Announces the Opening of Resource Centers for Parents

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ parents will be able to access support services at two parent resource
centers that will be opening this month at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU)
North Miami Beach and South Kendall campuses.

The parent resource centers will be housed at: NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services,
North Miami Beach campus, at 1750 NE 167 St., North Miami Beach, FL 33162,
and at NSU’s Student Educational Center, Kendall campus, at 8585 SW 124 Ave. Miami, FL 33183.

M-DCPS is the nation’s first public school system to partner with a local university to utilize campus facilities,
equipment, staff, and paid parent assistants to provide a resource center operated and maintained
for and with parent collaboration. Available resources will include parent-to-parent training activities,
workshops, lending libraries, support groups, and referral networks. The centers will be open
Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

An inauguration ceremony will be held at the South Parent Resource Center Kendall campus,
on August 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and at the North Parent Resource Center North Miami Beach campus,
on August 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Parent Mini Fair will also be part of the activities,
and parents and visitors will have the opportunity to meet new
